One reviewer described the movies as 'Leonidas leading 300 prime Porterhouse Spartans through the Hot Gates' (yes, that's what 'Thermopylae' translates to). And they're about right. It's a legitimately good movie, but there sure is a lot of Man in it. (It's okay, I'm a girl.) There was some decent gore -- onscreen decapitations and the like -- but the blood is shown very, erm ... graphic-novel-y. Those who've seen the movie know what I'm talking about. There's a lot of it, of course. They're Spaaaaaaaartaaaaaaaaaaaaaans, after all.
In other news, I am my entire department today. No pressure.

Went and saw 300 yesterday afternoon with a friend -- she was more than happy to see it a second time in one weekend. I've only skimmed the original graphic novel, but once I finish off this other book I'm reading, I'm going to give it a proper read.
