Entertainment+Education=Edutainment? by Shannon

Tossing in a quick update -- I'm hoping to have the comic's full endnotes finished before this weekend.

Yes, that's right. Endnotes. Going back through and clarifying the slew of references and in-jokes we've made throughout the pages of Wicket, some of which are a little more subtle than others. Never say that we don't love you. This isn't just a comic about time-travelling transsexuals...well, mostly it is, but not ALL of it is. So if/when you do buy the volumes, you can proudly tell yourself that you've bought something EDUCATIONAL.

Then again, I also read history books for fun and drink claret like it's going out of fashion (again).

As you were, then.

Briefly, with books. by Shannon

The London Review of Books recently reviewed an interesting book which unfortunately happens to be a little out of Wicket's time period. However, that is no reason not to mention it: Queer London: Perils and Pleasures in the Sexual Metropolis 1918-57 by Matt Houlbrook.

I think I'm almost more amused that Richard Hornsey, the book's reviewer, is currently writing a book on (and I'm quoting here) 'space, time and male homosexuality in postwar London'. Mainly because my first thought involved a TARDIS.

Another preview ... this is a snippet of the inside cover page, featuring Liz and Phillip ... well, his back. Again, that's just a piece ... can't very well give you the whole thing, can we?

I've finished what I believe is all the extra line art I need to do. Just finishing out the written content now and doing the shading on the line art (and some work on the back cover). I really like what I've done for the back cover, which I might show a peek of later.

I'm also checking with an outside source on some other possible content. No promises, but it'd be keen if it came through. If it takes too long, though, we go to press without it. I'd like this out by November if I can swing it ... so I can get on to ConScrew 3. Then Wicket 2. Then ConScrew 4. Then you can shoot me because I've got too bloody many books and no one buys 'em.

If you have been, quit whining.
