'I'm off being busy and important and academic.' by Kara

This and the next few pages are a real challenge to draw. Arthur's always been a very unemotional character, whereas Jane's always been a very emotional character. In the process of actually writing these, it was fun to come to the point where they could (and really had to) switch, but it meant stepping outside what I'm used to in drawing them.

At first, I was going to go a little against what The Co-Writer with the Most Books and I decided about Jane's attitude here, because she has this amazing capacity for Drama. She and Emily, probably the most dramatic characters in here. But it's kind of interesting seeing her take it down a notch when the situation demands it. And being down a notch doesn't mean she's just not going to react at all, of course. Just a lot more Liz-like subtlety.

And Arthur being as disheveled as he is took forever to get right. Sans jacket/waistcoat/tie, and what really killed me was taking away the walking stick. That really became a part of his character for me by way of drawing him, but it needed to be completely out of this scene for various reasons.

More of that in the next few pages.
